Hi, I’m Tammy Tatum, and for over 15 years, I’ve been creating watercolor paintings that push beyond traditional boundaries—this ain’t your grandma’s art!

I divide my time between the serene foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains and the majestic landscapes of Anchorage, Alaska giving me abundant inspiration from nature. My artwork combines batik and watercolor to capture the personality and spirit of animals, iconic places, and natural landscapes. This technique brings a precise yet dynamic energy to each piece, infusing them with life.

If honoring your beloved pet is close to your heart, each painting tells the story of unconditional love, celebrating the special bond between you and your loyal companion. As a passionate advocate for animal rescue, I highlight the beauty and significance of giving animals a second chance. Knowing that every rescued pet has a story worth preserving my art brings these stories to life.

In the face of environmental challenges, this art preserves the natural world ensuring their beauty endures. Art has the power to be more than just decoration; it creates a lasting legacy and serves as a daily reminder of the importance of caring for our planet and its creatures.

about the artist

outside of the studio

When I’m not in the studio, you’ll often find me enjoying life’s simple pleasures—reading a book curled up with my cat, Fito, traveling with my husband Carlos, or exploring new culinary delights as the foodies we are.

Having spent much of my youth in Germany I’m fluent in German, though my attempts to learn Spanish led to something far more rewarding. I met Carlos at a local café where I practiced speaking Spanish, we sat beside each other, and soon after, we married. Despite being married to an Argentinian and spending over a decade in Puerto Rico, I still haven’t mastered Spanish! But, perhaps, like art, it's the experience and connection that truly matter—because usually, the most beautiful things in life transcend words.
